Instead of living with his mother he chose to go to the underworld and live with Hades. He enjoyed himself down there. His father granted him the power of being a hell hound as long as he did everything he asked him to do. Kohoma agreed and the two lived there for quite some time with Persephone. They acted like a true family and ignored the fact that Kohoma's brother wasn't with them. Kohoma ran errands for his father nearly everyday, but he didn't mind. Things for him were pretty easy. Around age ten Hades asked Kohoma to run a certain errand. He had to go claim the soul of an car accident victim. Kohoma did as he was told and claimed the soul. His father congradulated him when he arrived back with the soul.
Over the next few years was the same; just running errands. Kohoma grew bored with what he had in the underworld and began traveling up to the human world. At first it was secret and no one knew about his trips. Then Persephone found out what he was doing and approached him about it. Kohoma tried to deny it, but she worked it out of him. She thought it was a good idea for him to be exploring. They made a deal that she wouldn't tell, but only if he ran notes to and from her mother. For the next several years neither Kohoma or Persephone breathed a word. Eventually as all parents do Hades found out what was going on and put a stop to it in a very angry fight. Kohoma was banned from leaving the underworld for several weeks and Persephone was trapped in her bedroom for the same amount of time.
Hades approached Kohoma one day and told him he was to go out and claim his second and third souls. Traveling to the first Kohoma was surprised to find an elderly male sitting up right in a bed. As Kohoma stepped from the shadows the man asked if he was death. Kohoma only nodded, but the man asked him to sit and listen to what he had to say. The man told him of his life in a short story and how he was glad he would be leaving the earth; that he was ready to leave. Kohoma nodded and took the mans hand. The body fell limp as the soul exited the body holding Kohoma's hand. Taking him back to the underworld Kohoma said his farewells and left to claim the second soul. Arriving in a small room with a small shape huddled in the corner Kohoma was slightly confused. He must have gone to the wrong place. He checked the paper he was given, but only found he was in the right place. He sighed and stepped from the shadows again. The small huddle shape shuddered and turned to reveal a small dirty face. He stopped in his tracks as he noted it was a small female child. She looked as if she was abused from day one of her life. Kohoma felt bad for her and reached down with tears in his eyes. The girl took his hand slowly and cautiously. Once again the body fell limp and the soul's hand stayed in his. The girl looked at her limp body and smiled. She smiled up at Kohoma before wrapping her arms around his thigh and Kohoma took her to the underworld. He stood watching as she entered into the gates of the underworld. Tears flooding over and blinding him slightly.
Returning back to Hades he told him the souls were collected and went to his room. He stood in the middle of his room looking at everything. Everywhere he looked he saw the little girl and the old man. He began crying as he stood there in the middle of his room. After half an hour of crying Kohoma grabbed several pairs of clothes and threw them into a bag. Shadow walking he went to his mother's home. He stepped from the shadows to see his mother looking away from him. He cleared his throat slightly and she jumped before turning around. At first she wasn't sure of who she was looking at, but after awhile she recognized him. After several hugs and kisses she took him to meet his brother. Kohoma greeted his brother in a kind way, but it was obvious the two weren't going to get along. Their mom left them to get to know each other. They stared after awhile before Layne demanded why he came home. Kohoma didn't give him a true answer, but they eventually agreed to switch places. Kohoma stayed with their mom and Layne went to live with their dad.
Kohoma started high school and hated every second of it. As soon as he served his four years Kohoma went and got his tattoos as soon as he could without looking suspicious. Layne came back during sophomore year and the two lived together for three years. They fought and hated each other. After high school Kohoma moved out and to a city far away from his brother. He didn't want to deal with him or anything he had to say. He knew his brother still wanted to keep in touch and honestly he did too, but he couldn't stand all the fighting between them. Kohoma stayed away from his brother until they moved into the same city. Know he sees his brother at least once a month if not once a week.
